WinterRun Club ❄️
← Back to WinterRun Club About us

Who even are we?

The short version: a running club that meets three afternoons a week, all winter, whether or not that sounds reasonable to you.

The story

How this got started

A handful of us kept running through last winter because none of us wanted to be the one who quit first. Somewhere around week three someone brought a speaker, somewhere around week five someone brought chocolate milk, and by December it was just… the club. There was no meeting where we voted on any of this. It just became true.

This year it’s official : a real high school club, with a real (if rudimentary) training plan, open to anyone who wants three easy-ish afternoons a week and doesn’t mind holiday music in March.

Who can join

Basically everyone

Do I need to be fast?
No. There is no tryout and there is no cut. Show up and you’re on the team.
Do I need experience?
No. Half the team started because a friend dragged them to one practice. It works.
What grades?
All of them. Freshmen through seniors, all running the same three afternoons.
What do I need to bring?
Shoes, a layer or two, and a willingness to hear the same ten Christmas songs on loop until March.
What if I can only make some practices?
Fine. Come when you can. Nobody’s counting.
The people

Who’s actually in charge

Loosely, in this order:

🏃

Coach

Runs the practices

Picks the routes, holds the chocolate milk, pretends not to have a favorite song on the ticker.

🥛

Milk Captain

A team-elected position

In charge of Friday logistics. The most important job on the team and everyone knows it.

🎵

The team

Everyone else

Picks the music, sets the pace, shows up even on the cold ones.
